How the bill will work:
Climate change damages between 1995-2024 will be estimated by experts and large oil companies will pay their fair share
30% of the funds will go to expert firefighters at the office of State Fire Marshall to help Oregonains prepare their homes for wildfire
70% of the funds will go to help Oregonians live with extreme heat, flood, windstorms and help with disaster recovery
Damages caused to Oregon for climate change are growing. Insurance costs are increasing. Wildfire, windstorms, torrential rain and flood, heat-related deaths and crop loss.
Heat-related deaths cost Oregonians between $1.3 billion and $4.6 billion in the 2021 heatwave.
The average Oregonian could lose roughly $12,000 in personal income per year due to extreme weather.
The top 10 global oil companies made $10 trillion in revenue between 2008 and 2023! They can afford to pay their fair share.
